Why expressive arts matter?
Like any metric that helps you understand yourself better, be it competitive examinations, health, or finance, expressive arts give you a tangible way to understand your mental and emotional health.
Very early on, we are told how the world works and what we have to do in it. But as we grow, there comes a point of friction between what we were told and our own lived experiences.
If you are not equipped with the tools to process this internal discomfort, you risk growing resentful, irritated, contracting illness, or even perpetuating harm, however unintentionally.
There are multiple ways to process your emotions, and every path has its own context. When it comes to art, it has been a definitive tool across regions and religions throughout history to navigate our internal landscapes, process heavy realities, and integrate those revelations, especially through cultural practices, and unfortunately, those are getting increasingly diluted across geographies.
Unknowingly, I have been practising expressive arts through poetry for a very long time and recently have been certified as a facilitator.
So, if you think you are ready to look at yourself with honesty and compassion and to reclaim your agency, I invite you to explore expressive arts with me.
